Something To Remember....Go America!

‎"Men may fail in this country, earthquakes may come, seas may heave beyond their bounds, there may be great drought, disaster, and hardship, but his nation, founded on principles laid down by men whom God raised up, will never fail. This is the cradle of humanity, where life on this earth began in the Garden of Eden. This is the place of the New Jerusalem. This is the place that the Lord said is favored above all other nations in all the world. This is the place where the Savior will come to His temple. This is the favored land in all the world. Yes, I repeat, men may fail, but this nation won't fail. I have faith in America; you and I must have faith in America, if we understand the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are living in a day when we must pay heed to these challenges. I plead with you not to preach pessimism. Preach that this is the greatest country in all the world. This is the favored land. This is the land of our forefathers. It is the nation that will stand despite whatever trials or crises it may yet have to pass through." ~Harold B.

and a little something from my wise mother

This is what I have observed during this very heated election- we all believe in freedom of speech and choice and religion but only if those opinions are in line with our own! What I see that this country needs is a little civility and tolerance and love and respect towards each other. Love for each other and love of country and especially love of our Heavenly Father who created us all! Have a fabulous day!

#12 Something You Don't Leave the House Without

Hmmm... a shirt. That is the only thing I ALWAYS have on when I leave the house. Sometimes I don't even have pants on when I leave the house....

#11 A Quote You Love

Anyone who knows me well knows I am obsessed with quotes and this next quote is a pretty good explanation why:

"Words are, in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic, capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it"
-Albus Dumbledore

I am a FIRM believer in this.

I have so many more quotes that I love that I really don't know if I can rifle through them all and choose my favorites. Just know that I think words are magic and they inspire me more than anything else.

#10 Something You Are Afraid Of

Not living up to my potential, and never making a difference on the world, or to the people around me. I constantly worry that I am not being the person I was meant to be. It really scares me sometimes to the point that I have anxiety over it. I think the greatest tragedy in my life will be if I never do something great in this world before I leave it. It terrifies me to think that maybe nothing I do will matter.

#9 A Favorite Picture of Your Best Friend

We've been through everything together. I don't know who I'd be without her. She'll always be my number one.

These two are like sisters to me. No one knows me better. I have had my best times with them.

The BEST friend I have ever had. Seriously. I miss her more than almost anyone.

This picture is perfect. These girls have been there through everything. I miss them every day. We will always be friends forever.
The best roommates in the world. I will miss living with them a lot next year.

I am so mad that I haven't seen her in like 1,000 years. I might cry when I see her

#8 A Place You Have Traveled and Where Else You Want to Travel

When I had just graduated from high school I went on the trip of a lifetime to Europe with my art history class. I went with so many fun people and it was seriously the best trip of my life. Here are a few pictures of the places I went.

My dream vacation is to go to England, Ireland, and Scotland. I wish I could be in London right now to watch the olympics! I will get there someday, mark my words.

#7 What Makes You Happy?

my religion, my family, my friends, my people, my house, slc, logan, harbor springs, books, music, outside, good conversations
mostly just being with my people, reading good stories, in beautiful environments, and listening to music. that is just a big bowl of contentment and happiness right there don't you think?

#6 Pet Peeves

If you asked Mary she would make fun of me because I say just about everything is "my worst thing" or as Jordan just said, "what aren't your pet peeves?" but I would say my number one thing is....

When people start to say something and then stop and refuse to continue... SO ANNOYING if you are going to start saying something you better finish it. Goodness I hate that.

When people won't stick up for themselves or others.

When people tell me what to do

BAD TIPPERS

When people's voices sound different than they usually do.. Yeah that is a weird one, but it really bugs me.

Sometimes the way people just choose to live their lives is a pet peeve to me. Haha just kidding... sort of.

#5 What Song Inspires You?

There are so many songs that inspire me that I don't even know where to start. So I will name a few as I think of them

The Dance by Garth Brooks
Fire and Rain by James Taylor
I am obsessed with Beautiful Goodbye by Maroon 5 right now. Such a beautiful song.
The whole Les Mis soundtrack!
Defying Gravity from Wicked and basically that whole soundtrack
Come, Come Ye Saints
The Star Spangled Banner haha but really
and I dunno. I LOVE music. It just makes me happy and can get you through a lot of stuff. All music inspires me.

#4 Your Parents

These are my parents Michael Wade Duffy and Julie Dahn Duffy.

Aren't they the cutest? They are high school sweethearts and have been married for 32 years now, I think it is. They are the perfect example to me of commitment, love, sacrifice, humor, and spirituality. I lucked out in having the best parents in the world. I am not kidding, they are freaking rockstars. My sisters and I are really blessed to call them our mom and dad. I am so proud to be the daughter of Mike and Julie Duffy. I love them more than anything on this planet. I miss them a lot.

#3 Your First Love?

Well people, I think it is safe to say I have never been in love. But three boys really made an impact on my heart growing up.

The first was Jaxson Judkins. Next door neighbor. First crush, Best friends. My oldest friend. He always looks out for me. Probably one of the best boys I know. We are still good friends to this day and probably always will be. I think we will always have each other's backs.

In elementary school it was ALWAYS Brian Orr. Another neighbor. We loved each other. He would pick up cute little things he would find off the ground and give them to me. I put them in my "love box" which I still have to this day. He gave me a teddy bear for my birthday one year. It was actually really cute how much we liked each other and we were so young. We are still good friends, and I think I will always have a little crush on him. He is on a mission right now in Brazil and I hear he is doing awesome. I need to write him.

I guess I have to mention William Bekker. Haha he really has been a huge part of my life. We started whatever it is between us in 9th grade. We are so different and sometimes I still wonder how I ended up liking him so much, but I did. He is now on a mission in Norway and I just recently got a letter from him and he's doing great.

I can't wait to really really fall in love with someone. Anyone who knows me knows that I love love! It's the most beautiful thing in the world after all.

words i like

The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.
Kurt Vonnegut, — A Man Without a Country, 2005

That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.
F. Scott Fitzgerald
